World Skills 2009, Calgary, Canada!
Edit// Gonna write a real real entry with more details now.

Day 1

Team Singapore!

This is Team Singapore just before we left for Canada at the airport in Terminal 3. There were lots of people sending us off with demands for us to bring back medals hopes for us to do our best. My family came to send me off, mom, grandpa, sister and even my maklong and paklong! How nice of them to come! We took a lot of pictures outside, with all the competitors as well as the coaches and trainers.

Sunrise on the plane
It was a 6 hour flight to Seoul, Incheon (no, I didn't get to go out and shop. hardly had time! As soon as I got my passport stamped, I had to go back into the plane). Then it was a 13 hour flight or so to San Francisco, a 5 hour transit, then a 2.5 hour flight to Calgary, Canada. BLEH. It was the longest journey I've ever been on. It was so boring in the flight, even though I brought my PSP and MP3 and there were inflight movies and stuff. But sometimes you just don't have the mood to do everything, and you just want to sleep, but can't because it's so uncomfortable.

America from the air. It looks cool, doesn't it. So many mountains! All the geography floods back.

San Francisco. Look at all the little houses arranged so neatly! It's so big, looks so different than Singapore, where almost everything is highrise.

At San Francisco airport, I managed to walk around a little bit to kill the 5h waiting time during transfer. Didn't buy anything though, except for a cookie.

After we got off the plane, a bus took us to the SAIT Polytechnic hostels which was converted to a Competitor village, which was not very far away. It was super cold when we got off the bus. And we weren't in our coats or anything, since we just got out from the aeroplanes and from the airport. We didn't prepare any warm clothing, so it was freezing!

We were so lucky to be able to get the topmost floor. Penthouse! That means we get the high floor to ceiling windows and the super gorgeous view.

My room! Kitchen is here.

2 bedrooms.

Bedroom with the beautiful view!

I loved the room. It got a little hot in the afternoon when the sun came in, but in the morning and night it was freezing. That's how the weather was like in Calgary. It's so weird. The range is so wide. And we brought gloves even, but didn't use them!

It looks so much more magical in real life! I wish my room had this view...I love looking at lights.

Before going to sleep, I'd just stare out the window from my bed. It's lovely.

Day 2

Taiwan team

The next morning, we were supposed to go to the competition site to check the place out. And it was interesting to see all the other teams from the other countries making their way there too.

French team

As competitors, we could use the C-train for free! And it was convenient because the C-train was just right outside the school. Kind of like Singapore Poly has Dover. And it brings us directly to the competition site, Stampede Park. Here are pictures of the walk towards the station.

I wish my school looked like a castle

High School Musical!

The C-train arrives!

Stampede Park

We arrive at Stampede Park station, where Stampede Park is. Here's everyone just walking towards the area, and just hanging around the place. It's familiarisation day, so we have to get ourselves familiarised with the area, and also with our work stations and our computers, in my case.

This is the grandstand, where Web Design was held. This was practically where I spent all day at, for 4 consecutive days during the competition. The opening ceremony was held here too. This building was the furthest away from the station, so we always had to walk the longest to get to this place. And get lost sometimes too.

Day 2; Banff Excursion! Coming soon!
